#001: Do you need a business coach, mentor, or consultant?

You've reached a point in your business where you're ready for some outside perspective. You know it will help you take your business to the next level or, simply, just help you get the ball rolling.

There are so many different types of people you could hire to help you and this potentially makes it more confusing. Making sure you bring in the right person is important, right?!

In this episode I discuss the differences between a business coach, mentor, and consultant. I also provide you with some questions to ask yourself when you're deciding what type of help you need. This will help you get clear on what you need and what you can expect to receive when hiring someone.

Here's the breakdown:

  • A mentor is someone that basically walked your path before you. They are experienced in your area of business and can provide insight on what they did to get to where they are.
  • A business coach is someone that helps you work through the things that are limiting you or holding you back from building the business you desire. A coach would help you work through WHY that was happening and help you figure out HOW to move forward.
  • A consultant is someone that you seek out for the specific knowledge that they provide, such as e-mail marketing strategies, social media marketing, business strategy, course building, finances… you get the idea.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • What do I really need help with?
  • Does that need seem to best fit a mentor, coach, or consultant?
  • Is it possible for one person to cover everything I need help with?
  • What type of support can I expect to receive from this person?
